TRIP PLAN
Day 1: Pick up from the hotel and drive down south and to
Selous Game Reserve. Packed lunch will be provided. Depend on the
time of your arrival; you will go for boat safaris along the Rufiji
River, Overnight at Mobile Camp Full board.
Day 2: Breakfast at the camp, then depart for walking safaris
in the reserve where an armed ranger will be accompanying you. After
your walking safaris, you driver will pick you and drive back to the
campsite for hot lunch. At about 4.00pm drive through reserve for
evening game drive. Overnight at Mobile Camp, full board.
Day 3: Morning after breakfast drive back to Dar es Salaam
At 55,000 km sq, Selous is the largest protected largest game
reserve in the world. It is named after legendary British
hunter-explorer Frederick Courtney Selous, who was killed here
during the WW1.
Selous boasts of Tanzania's largest population of elephant as well
as large numbers of herds of buffalo, hippo, crocodile, wild dog, a
variety of 440 species of birds, over 2000 variety of plants, hot
volcanic springs, lagoons, the great Rufiji River and the diverse
landscape makes Selous Game Reserve a World Heritage site. Other
species commonly seen are lion, bushbuck, impala, giraffe, eland,
baboon, zebra and greater kudu.
